Can you help us to raise £7,150 to expand our Moving Minds activities with those affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Elderly Care Homes across Cheshire?

As one of our supporters I’m sure you know that we are a non-profit Community Interest Company based in Cheshire in England and are a member of BACP dedicated to improve mental health in our community. Founded in 2017, Inner Trust uses non-traditional and innovative therapies based around music. Music is a means of expression that connects people, invokes emotions and bridges cultures, genders and generations. It is a universal language and use of it can be a fun way to connect with people, In the case of those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, opening an experience to stimulate memory and start conversations.

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor, Music Producer & DJ and have my own label and publishing company producing dance music and creating music for TV and adverts. Having seen the lack of support for young people during my time spent as a counsellor in a secondary school, I wanted to combine the fun and creativity of music with counselling and supporting people. I also have a specific passion for supporting the elderly who are affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Help us to expand our Moving Minds activities with those affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Elderly Care Homes across Cheshire.

The aim of this Crowdfunder is to buy an Interactive Table that helps us to expand our musical activities with those affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Elderly Care Homes across Cheshire. Research on the neuropathology of dementia and on the science of play, establishes that people even in the later stages of the disease can still experience three primary outcomes of play: sensation, relaxation and reminiscence which can be achieved through residents interaction with the table.

We want to create a visual and musical session experience that multiple people can enjoy at the same time; stimulating movement, communication and mental engagement. We want to enable those who are non-verbal or less verbally able to interact with peers, increase their physical exercise, confidence, social involvement and feeling of self-worth, promoting positive mental health and helping to build emotional resilience.  The table can be used as a projector screen on the ceiling for those residents who are immobile. We want to help enable the resident to connect in, to spark memory, engage and bring joy and the power of curiosity and wonder as well as laughter into their life.

Why is this important? – Too often when our senior citizens reside in Care Homes, they lack passion they once had and give up on communicating with others. People with Alzheimer’s in particular are more prone to this as their day-to-day memory is poor. Our project, with your support will enable them the opportunity to access their longer-term memories from their past which can be much stronger and interact with people with similar experiences providing them with a sense of being part of where they live and connection to others which is so vital for healthy wellbeing.

We need YOU!  We need to raise £7150 for our amazing Interactive Table to support those affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

We have local care homes and their residents waiting for our support. We have trained staff and volunteers ready to create a visual and musical experience that multiple people can enjoy at the same time and for them to experience the fantastic benefits that these sessions can bring. We just need your support to facilitate the purchase of the Interactive Table.
